With contributions from 56 southern nations of Ethiopia and thousands of delighted guests, we have been serving this mission even as we expand our services and provide new experiences to our customers.

Values

At Paradise Lodge we measure our success as a business not only by customer delight and value for investors, but by our social and environmental impact as well. It’s called the triple bottom-line and below are some of the ways we are working towards this as a company. Sustainability is journey and not a destination. We are continuing to strive in our efforts to optimize our impacts on the community and the local environment.

Community

Celebrating and preserving local culture

We see the culture of the local people as being one of the most precious resources of the region and have been taking steps from the beginning to preserve and celebrate those cultures. Furniture, decorations and linens were sourced from artisans representing 54 ethnic groups from the south.

Designs for the hut suites, the restaurant and hotel lobby are all based on the construction style and materials of the region. Guests from around the world come to celebrate the local culture through the celebration of holidays, artistic performances and local events.

Paradise Lodge Arbaminch is committed to building stronger communities in towns we operate. We partner with local, international and government institution to effect the greater good through partnership and volunteer.

Creating livelihoods

Those smiles you see on the faces of the staff team at Paradise Lodge are not just for show. Paradise Lodge currently employs 265 people, the vast majority of which are local residents of the region. The construction of the lodge was also carried out entirely by local workers and contractors.

We train our staff in transferrable skills for the service industry such as hygiene management, customer service and quality assurance. Certificates are given to help build each workers’ professional portfolio.

All staff are paid well above hospitality industry averages for the country, even when comparing to urban centers. In addition to this, staff are also given generous bonuses and an annual celebration for the families of all staff.

Restoring and preserving paradise

Paradise Lodge is named for the green, pristine heaven on earth the lodge is situated in. The integrity of the local ecosystem is a high priority at Paradise Lodge. The land now occupied by the lodge had previously been deforested but is now a lush, green paradise. Species planted were selected for being local to the region and therefore in little need of irrigation or other care.

Terracing was also carried out on the grounds to hold water and dramatically reduce runoff. Paradise Lodge security staff work with National Park authorities to protect the forest from threats.

Paradise Lodge is aware and internaly focussed on protecting our communities, employes, customers and bussiness partners from many environmental associated risks. Paradise Lodge Arbaminch strives to protect the environment, conserve enegry, natural resourses and our indigenous culture.

 Water and waste

All water used at the lodge is drawn sustainably from the pristine Forty Springs of Arba Minch. All waste water from the lodge is gathered and used to irrigate and naturally fertilize the gardens. Solids from wastewater are safely recycled for nutrients in agriculture.

Orphanage

Paradise Lodge Arbaminch, Ethiopia is committed to poverty alleviation where we live and work by  supporting the basic fabric of society through a number of programs, volunteer work and charitable activities. Paradise Lodg Arbaminch, is supporting 14 children who are born and raised in Gamo region. It is a pride for the children to be assisted by one of ther own bussiness establishment. We provide food, shelter, transportation to school, and pocket money. We encourage and train team work, indipendency and financial litracy. To practically demonstrate the team work concept, they have established their own football team. They are yet to show us their winning football cup.

These are just some of the things we are doing as a community-based eco-lodge as part of our ongoing effort to apply our values as we provide a world-class hospitality experience to our guests.
